Draft, published and unpublished FAQs.
What each FAQ status means, what unpublishing does, and how deleting and restoring work.
Every FAQ has a status. Only published FAQs are used in answers to visitors.
| Status | Used in answers | When |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | No | New FAQs saved as drafts, AI imports, and drafts turned from conversations or suggested topics. |
| Published | Yes | After you choose Publish. |
| Unpublished | No | After you choose Unpublish on a published FAQ. |
What unpublishing an FAQ does
Unpublishing stops Askbridge using the FAQ in answers straight away. The FAQ is not deleted: it stays in the list with the status Unpublished, with its question, answer and topic, and you can publish it again at any time. Nothing visitors have already been told changes, and nothing is sent to anyone.
Use it when an answer is temporarily wrong (for example a price is changing) and you want to stop it being quoted while you check it.
Unpublish or publish an FAQ
- Open Knowledge, then the FAQs tab.
- Find the FAQ. Use search, or filter by status or topic.
- Choose Unpublish (the eye with a line through it) on its row, or Publish (the eye) to put it back.
- To change several at once, tick them and use the buttons above the list.
After publishing, the list shows Updating knowledge until answers use the new text, then Up to date. If it shows Update failed, choose Retry.
Deleting and restoring
Deleting also stops the FAQ being used straight away. You can undo it for a few seconds, or restore it from Recently deleted for 30 days. After 30 days it is gone.
Owners and admins can publish, unpublish and delete FAQs. Agents can read them.
Check the result
Ask the question in Knowledge, Test a question to see how the assistant answers without the FAQ, or with it again.
