Ask AI.

The assistant in the dashboard for owners and admins: what it can answer, what it never does, how it uses your monthly AI allowance and who sees your questions.

Ask AI is the assistant behind the Ask AI button at the top of the dashboard, next to the bell. Owners and admins can use it. It answers questions about using Askbridge and about your workspace, with the sources it used and buttons that take you to the right screen.

What it can help with

  • How to do something: for example how to install the widget, import FAQs from a Word document, or get notifications on your phone.
  • Your workspace now: for example which knowledge sources need attention, how many AI conversations are left this period, which requests nobody owns, or which follow-ups are due for you.
  • The screen you are on: for example what the figures mean, or how to assign the conversation you have open. It knows which screen you are on and which conversation, request or source is open, and nothing else from the page.

Each screen has suggested questions. They never run on their own: press one to ask it.

What it never does

Ask AI only reads. It never publishes or deletes knowledge, sends messages, changes assignments or statuses, invites people, changes roles, changes billing, connects integrations or changes security settings. When you ask for a change, it explains the steps and offers a button to the screen where you can make it.

It answers only from Askbridge's own guidance and from your workspace's data, and only with what your role can see. It never reads your customers' contact details. If it cannot check something, it says so.

Your questions are private

Your Ask AI conversations are visible only to you, in this workspace. Other owners and admins cannot see them. If your role changes so that you no longer have Ask AI, you lose access to the history; if you are removed from the workspace, it is deleted. You can delete a conversation from the history yourself at any time. Conversations are deleted automatically 90 days after their last activity.

Questions are sent to the AI model with personal details such as email addresses and phone numbers removed.

How it uses your AI allowance

Ask AI shares your workspace's monthly AI conversation allowance with the assistant on your website.

  • An Ask AI conversation counts once, when its first answer arrives. Follow-up questions in the same conversation do not count again.
  • A conversation holds up to 12 answers. After that, start a new conversation, which counts as a new one.
  • A conversation that carries on into a new billing period counts once in that period, at its first answer there.
  • Opening the panel, moving between pages, questions that are refused, and answers that fail or are stopped cost nothing.

The panel shows how many AI conversations are left, split between the website assistant and Ask AI. The Usage page shows the same breakdown. See Usage and your AI allowance.

When the allowance is used up, Ask AI cannot start a new conversation until the period resets. Your history, the help guides and the screen buttons stay available. Owners see a button to change plan or buy a top-up. Nothing is ever charged automatically.

Limits that keep it fair

To stop one person or one long conversation using too much, Ask AI limits how many questions you can ask in a short time, how long a question can be, how many answers a conversation can hold, and how many answers your team can have written at once. If you reach one, the panel says so and when to try again.
